Lego One Piece lands on Netflix at midnight Pacific, which makes it a tempting reason to stay up a little too late.
If you are still awake right now, Netflix just released Lego One Piece. It came out at 3 a.m. Eastern, which is midnight here on the West Coast. The show gives the story a LEGO makeover, retelling the first two seasons with brick-building comedy and action.
I love that something like this exists. One Piece has a huge and loyal audience, and LEGO has a way of making big adventure stories feel playful and a little silly. It seems like the kind of show that parents and kids could actually enjoy together.
I also know the pull of a new release at midnight. There is a small thrill in being one of the first people to see something. There is also a Tuesday waiting on the other side of it.
My plan is to watch one episode, see how it feels, and save the rest for the weekend. A show will still be there in a few days. A good night of sleep before a workday is harder to get back.
