National Coffee Day 2026: free and cheap coffee deals today

Today, September 29, is National Coffee Day, and the best deals are the ones that do not require a big order. Most of them run through an app or a rewards account, so it helps to open the app before you get in line.

The truly free options first. Whataburger is giving away a 16-ounce hot or iced coffee with no purchase needed when you order online or in its app. Circle K has a free medium hot or iced coffee as an app offer for Inner Circle Rewards members, and Pilot travel centers have a free hot coffee through the Pilot app. Tim Hortons is offering a free coffee of any size in its app with no purchase required.

A few more need a small purchase. Dunkin' has a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase for Dunkin' Rewards members ordering in the app. Krispy Kreme is offering a free small or medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase. Caribou Coffee has a free medium hot coffee or cold brew with any beverage purchase, and Paris Baguette has a free medium coffee with purchase for rewards members.

Then there are the cheap cups. Peet's Coffee is selling a medium coffee for 25 cents today only, its original price from 1966. 7-Eleven has a large coffee for $1.49 for 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members. Sheetz is running a free self-serve coffee with purchase for My Sheetz Rewardz members from today through October 1.

Offers can vary by location, and some stores may not take part. If you want the simplest free cup, check the Whataburger, Circle K or Pilot app before you leave, and consider passing some of what you saved to the person behind the counter as a tip.
