Padres vs. Cubs Wild Card Game 1: time, TV and what's next

The San Diego Padres host the Chicago Cubs tonight at Petco Park, with first pitch at 7 p.m. Pacific, which is 9 p.m. Central and 10 p.m. Eastern. The game airs on NBCSN and streams on Peacock, and fubo carries NBCSN as well.

If you are in San Diego and looking for NBCSN on cable or satellite, NBC 7 San Diego lists it on Cox channel 39 HD or 1038, Spectrum channel 305 and DirecTV channel 694. MLB.com lists Michael King as the Padres' probable starter. The Cubs had not named their starter when MLB.com published its preview.

This is a best-of-three series, and every game is in San Diego. Game 2 is Wednesday at 7 p.m. Pacific on the same channels. If the series is tied after two games, Game 3 is Thursday, and NBC 7 reports it could move up to 5 p.m. Pacific on NBC 7 if at least two other Wild Card series end in sweeps. If either team wins the first two games, there is no Game 3.

The team that wins the series moves on to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Division Series, which begins Saturday, October 3.
