Valkyries vs. Wings Game 3 tonight: time, TV and what is at stake
Golden State hosts Dallas in a winner-take-all Game 3 at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN2. The winner meets the Aces in the WNBA semifinals Sunday.
The last first-round series of the WNBA playoffs ends tonight. The Golden State Valkyries host the Dallas Wings in Game 3 at Chase Center, and the winner moves on while the loser's season ends.
Tipoff is at 6 p.m. Pacific, 9 p.m. Eastern, on ESPN2. The game is also on the radio on 95.7 The Game and the Audacy app.
The first two games went in very different directions. Golden State won Game 1 by 24 points, outscoring Dallas 37-11 in the second quarter. Dallas answered in Game 2 with a 108-100 overtime win, led by Arike Ogunbowale's 45 points, a WNBA playoff record. Gabby Williams scored a career-high 36 for the Valkyries in that loss.
The stakes are clear. The winner faces the Las Vegas Aces, who beat the Indiana Fever 94-83 in their own Game 3 on Thursday behind A'ja Wilson's 36 points and 10 rebounds. According to the Valkyries, a win tonight would also give Golden State home court in the semifinals, starting with Game 1 on Sunday. The semifinals are best-of-five, and Game 1s air Sunday on NBC or ABC.
If you are heading to the arena, the team says every fan gets a playoff T-shirt. If you are watching at home, the 6 p.m. start makes it an easy Friday dinner game.
