Braves at Dodgers NLDS Game 1 today: 1 p.m. PT on Fox
The Braves knocked out the Phillies and now open the NLDS at Dodger Stadium today at 1 p.m. Pacific on Fox, with Chris Sale starting for Atlanta.
The Dodgers finally know their opponent. The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-2 in Game 3 of their Wild Card Series on Thursday night, and they open the National League Division Series at Dodger Stadium this afternoon.
Game 1 starts at 1 p.m. Pacific (4 p.m. Eastern) on Fox, with FOX Deportes and the FOX One streaming app also carrying it. Chris Sale is scheduled to start for Atlanta, two days after he got the final four outs of the Phillies game in relief.
Atlanta arrives with some momentum. MLB.com notes the Game 3 win was the Braves' first in a winner-take-all postseason game since Game 7 of the 1996 NL Championship Series, ending a six-game losing streak in those games. Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies and Michael Harris II all homered, and opener Ray Kerr gave up one hit over 3 1/3 scoreless innings. The Dodgers are the two-time defending World Series champions.
The series is best of five. Games 1 and 2 are in Los Angeles, Games 3 and 4 move to Atlanta, and a Game 5 would return to Dodger Stadium. Game 2 is Sunday at 5 p.m. Pacific on FS1.
If you are heading to the ballpark, it will be very hot in Southern California today, with extreme heat warnings in Los Angeles County. Bring water, sunscreen and a hat, and give yourself extra time for parking.
Plan for a midday start so you are not scrambling to find the channel at first pitch.
